Ward 2 Wins

Over the past four years, Ward 2 has seen some of the most tangible, high-impact improvements in all of Franklin—and they started with a promise Matt Brown made in 2021. Defeating the Brownland Farms development was the issue Matt ran on, and he delivered—convincing the Board to unanimously reject the proposal that would have put hundreds of homes in a Harpeth River floodplain. That victory set the tone for a new kind of leadership—one rooted in preservation. Since then, Matt has helped secure more than 75 acres of new parkland in Ward 2, including the Creekside property at Franklin Road and Mack Hatcher as well as the Hill Haven tract, and successfully removed the Fieldstone Farms Parkway extension from the thoroughfare plan, preserving neighborhood integrity and protecting our green space.

Ward 2 has also become one of Franklin’s most walkable and connected communities. Under Matt’s leadership, over 5 miles of new sidewalks and trails have been added, including the Mack Hatcher Trail, the Highway 96 West multi-use path, and key neighborhood links made possible through sidewalk gap funding—connecting places like Carlisle and Cornerstone. Infrastructure wins like the Harlinsdale Farm pedestrian bridge, traffic signal improvements at Hillsboro and Fieldstone, and railroad crossing upgrades at Mallory Station show Matt’s commitment to both safety and quality of life. These are just some of the Ward 2 wins that are making a real difference—block by block, neighborhood by neighborhood.
