Meet Matt Brown

Matt Brown is a husband, father, business owner, and public servant who proudly represents Ward 2 on Franklin’s Board of Mayor and Aldermen. After six years in the Army National Guard and a successful career as a CEO, Matt and his wife Julie made the life-changing decision to move their young family to Franklin—sight unseen—after a month-long road trip in search of a better life. What they found wasn’t just a beautiful city, but a community rooted in values, service, and connection. That experience shaped Matt’s belief that Franklin isn’t just a place—it’s a people—and that belief guides everything he does.

Since taking office, Matt has delivered on his promise to preserve what makes Franklin special while planning thoughtfully for its future. He helped lead the first major reduction of Franklin’s Urban Growth Boundary in over two decades to protect rural land, co-authored the Village Green initiative to preserve open space while supporting smart development, and supported the addition of over 200 acres of new parkland. He’s stood firm against irresponsible development, advocated for pedestrian connectivity through expanded trails and sidewalks, and introduced policies to make housing more attainable without compromising community character. When Franklin’s first responders needed someone to fight for better pay and benefits, Matt went to work and got it done.

Beyond city government, Matt and Julie have shown up for this community time and again—helping nonprofits like My Friend’s House and One Generation Away, serving on the boards of The Battle of Franklin Trust and the African American Heritage Society, and helping establish The Circle of Giving to benefit local charities through the Ken Means Carousel of Dreams. Whether it’s protecting the Five Points Post Office or building bridges—literally and figuratively—Matt Brown leads with integrity, humility, and a deep love for the people of Franklin. His campaign isn’t about politics—it’s about protecting what matters, building what’s next, and ensuring Franklin remains one of America’s most exceptional places to call home.
